The Government of Indonesia through the State Ministry for Women's Empowerment of the
Republic of Indonesia implements a number of international conventions and agreements
in the context of regional planning and development. Regulation of the State Minister for
Women's Empowerment of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2009 concerning Child
Friendly City / District Policy is the basis for city and districts to formulate development
strategies to achieve a title of child-friendly city / district (KLA). This policy is based on
the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Declaration of the World Fit for
Children. This underlies the commitment of the Pontianak City Government to create
public spaces, especially child-friendly city parks in Pontianak City.

implementation of child friendly city parks standards, the spatial planning concept of child
friendly park as a recreational space to educate children functionally, aesthetically, and
ecologically in Pontianak City, the strategic management of children friendly city parks for
sustainable development in Pontianak City, and the parents’ and children’s hopes in the
future as the visitors of city parks. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis discussion is to
recommend an applicable city park landscape management plan with the principles of
efficiency and effectiveness and to recommend elements that form the Pontianak city park
landscape with a children friendly concept that highlights the local wisdom of Pontianak
City. Results Recommendations for landscape management in this research location will
guide the management of other urban park landscapes in Pontianak City.
The benefit of this research are expected to become a guideline for Pontianak City to
achieve effectiveness and efficiency in the management of city parks towards a childfriendly Pontianak City. In addition, a harmonious, ecological, functional, and aesthetic
arrangement of city parks will improve the quality of life of the people of Pontianak City
physically and mentally. Recommendations on the arrangement and management of city

used in this phase such as distributing questionnaires to get the information from users
who visit the research area. The last but not least phase is to conduct the concept of design
and management of children park. Some tools or application will be used here are
AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, and the formula of CSI (Customer
Satisfaction Index) and IPA (Importance Performance Analysis).
Chlidren respondents are the children in the catgory 7-12 years old. The results of the
research include: (1) Ayani Chess Park can’t be categorized as a children’s playground
based on repondent’s assessment of the research indicators at Ayani Chess Park.; (2) the
assessment of adult respondents on the existing facilities of Taman Catur Ayani is very
satisfactory; (3) unfortunately, the assessment of adult respondents on the level of
management services with a child-friendly park approachment is unsatisfactory. According
to those results, Taman Catur Ayani needs to improve the implementation of management
services; and (4) traditional games as local wisdom should be presented in the concept of
child-friendly parks in every region in Indonesia. There is also a management strategy
consisting of priority directions for improvement and provision for Ayani Chess Park to
the status of TBA.

officers, c) child play supervisors; d) the shape of the pavement and plants is not
