It is usually due to the water column above the permeable zone so that makes hydrostatic pressure in the well is greater than the reservoir pressure. To be able to flow to the surface, the fluid from the reservoir needs to be in a condition where the pressure reservoir must be greater than the pressure inside the wellbore. Thus to be able to make a well flow, an effort to reduce the hydrostatic pressure within the well bore is required. One was conducted by stimulation of compressed air (air compression stimulation). Stimulation by air compression operates on the idea that water is depressed down the well to a certain depth in order to reduce the hydrostatic pressure. In this study, stimulation designs have been made for eight non-self discharge (not flowing naturally) wells in water-dominated system using a method, which is the ratio between the flashing area and condensation area in the wellbore. From this study, it can be concluded that compression pressure needed for the success of this method is compression pressure that produces the ratio Af/Ac after stimulation greater than 0.85. Prediction using Af and Ac method is not always accurate for certain wells. In field practice, if the theoretical approach does not work then the practical approach will be used by increasing the compression pressure gradually until the well can discharge. text |
