Summary: | Employee is one of the aspects that is needed to run a company. In this era companies are focused
more on a high level of quality and quantity of work, which leads employees to have a lot of job
demand. The level of productivity in Indonesia’s workforce is below the average of ASEAN. This
kind of situation happens because employers place a lot of demands on their employees and it
decreases their happiness. Happiness of employees is still not getting enough attention in the
workplace. Meanwhile, happiness is quite crucial to improve employees’ productivity and
performance. The objective of this research is to identify the significant effect of happiness at
work towards performance among employees and identify the level of happiness at work of
employees in Indonesia. To measure the happiness at work, this research uses the HAW model
that has been developed by Salas-Vallina & Alegre (2018) that used engagement, job satisfaction,
and affective organizational commitment as the indicators. Meanwhile, an employee's
performance is measured using quantity, quality, effectiveness, punctuality, independence, and
work commitment as its indicators. This study uses quantitative methods to analyze and identify
the results of the data that has been collected through questionnaires. The research surveyed 300
respondents via an online questionnaire. Based on the analysis, the result of this research shows
that the level of Indonesian employees’ happiness at work is at a moderate level and there is a
significant effect between happiness at work and the performance of employees in Indonesia. This
research is expected to help organizations in Indonesia to pay more attention to employee’s
happiness as a tool to improve individual and organization performance. |
