Batik was first developed rapidly in the palace with decorative patterns influenced by the Hindu era in Java, began to develop with various approaches in several areas. There are several batiks that contain visual narratives. For example, the Batik Belanda in the 18th century used European folk tales such as the Snow White story, and Batik Kasumedangan which tells the Cadas Pangeran story. This example gave the idea of transforming The Apocalypse Series illustrations into batik designs. The engraving approach has similarities with the batik approach in making the construction of an object. Batik motifs are arranged into three arrangements: batik motifs ornaments or klowongan , ornaments filler or isen-isen, and background filler decorations. Engraving technique applying a hatching style to fill an object in conveying shape, surface, and contrast. Thus, bring out the potential in developing batik in this research. The final product of this research is a collection of batiks by exploring the acculturation of batik characteristics and engraving based on the illustration of The Apocalypse Series story by Albrecht Durer's engraving. The final product has a function of ritually purposed batik as decoration or aesthetic element that is prioritized for spiritual buildings. text
