Summary: | The COVID-19 pandemic causes changes and forces companies to change their work habits,
affecting employees' routines and work activities. Concurrently, the change in work habits
toward remote work is supported by the availability of new technologies from industry 4.0,
which could be able to assist employee activities in mitigating the risk of COVID-19
implications. This study has two goals. First, the researcher intends to examine the effect of
COVID-19's work implications on employee performance. Second, the researcher examines
the moderating effect of industry 4.0 base technologies on this relationship.
The researchers surveyed 153 employees of PT Pegadaian (Persero) who had worked remotely
during the pandemic. Research shows that the work implications of COVID-19 (job insecurity,
home office environment, and virtual connection) positively affect employee
performance. Then, the moderation of the industry 4.0 base technologies strengthens this
relationship.
Changes in work habits due to the COVID-19 pandemic have an effect on post-pandemic work
habits. This change requires companies to employ workers remotely and to ensure that
employee performance is maintained appropriately. Workers who work from home need to be
considered by the company in terms of their working conditions, because this will have an
impact on their performance. It is suggested that a facility equalization program need to be
carried out for employees. Furthermore, counseling and buddy programs are suggested for
monitoring employee insecurities that influence their performance. |
