INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/59649 Kelapa Gading is one of the sub-districts located in the city of North Jakarta, DKI Jakarta, Indonesia. This sub-district has now grown rapidly into a densely populated area and now has a fairly strong image as a commercial, culinary center, to distressing conditions such as traffic jams and floods during the rainy season. The problem of flooding is due to the narrowing of green open space areas with so many areas being used as pavements. In the center of the area, the Kelapa Gading roundabout is the center of vehicle traffic and activities. With the formation of interactions that meet each other, there is a great potential for a public space that can connect and accommodate residents' activities. With so much trading activity that has taken place, there is a need for public facilities that can be a Third Place for its residents, in the design of an active, productive, and natural Public Library as a Third Place – “a neutral place where people can gather and interact” (Oldenburg, 2000) other than the place of residence (First Place) and place of work (Second Place). In addition, this project is intended to help solve problems within the area by designing an elevated walkway and raised building mass for accessibility and flooding problems. This project stands on a land area of ??26.000m2 with land regulations KLB 2.19, KDB 48%, KDH 30%, KTB 50%, GSB 4-8m, and land zoning category of K2 (Trade and Services). Main issues of the design are the Public Library as a Third Place, pedestrian accessibility with designing an Elevated Walkway, and green space as a water catchment area. The results of this design are: 1 building mass with 4 floors as a Public Library with supporting facilities, an Elevated Walkway that is connected to the building mass and the surrounding context, and a park as a public space. The structure used in the design is a concrete frame structure with a grid size of 8x8m that supports 4 floors. The bridge structure also uses concrete columns and beams that support the bridge width of 4m by a diameter of 30m. text |
