PT XYZ is a tire manufacturer with most of its products is export oriented. It turns out that the market demand is still bigger than the current daily production which can reach around 1,000-2,000 tires per day. The current production is about 7,000 tires per day, whilst its capacity can reach around 8,000 per day. Moreover, defect products are still significant and it is an inefficiency which has to be corrected. Thus potential profit is loss due to these problems. <br />

The problem can be solved by analyzing the process anddata at each department that produce the components for tires. The departments are Mixing, Calendering, Bead Making (Bead Apexing), Cutting, Extruding, Building and Curing. Based on analysis the root-cause of under capacity of the plant and defect product are identified. To solve the problem, Current Reality Tree (CRT) method is used. The CRT method investigates the cause factor until the core problem is found and thus the best solution can be taken. <br />

The result shows that the core problem is the Extruder which is often out of order, indiscipline operators, insufficient numbers of operators and foreman, and unavailability of control equipment, i.e. the weight measuring tools. <br />

The solution for the core problem is to increase number of engineers, technicians, operators and foreman, as well as improvement of discipline. Thus it is expected that it will increase profits of Rp.257.143.500 by the increasing production, and Rp.156.900.000 by the improvements of efficiency, compared to the total cost must be spent Rp.113.250.000. Therefore, it gives additional profit Rp.300.793.500 monthly, whilst the required time is only around two months. |
