Description
Summary:The occurrence of the Covid-19 virus pandemic which has spread very quickly to the entire Indonesian society since the end of 2019 until now, has changed the life of the community including various sectors in Indonesia, one of which is in the field of education. The spread of the virus caused many victims, the minister of education and culture made a policy regarding the teaching and learning process carried out online from their respective homes (online) as an effort to avoid increasing cases of the spread Covid-19 in Indonesian society. Changes in learning methods may make students' academic achievement different in their study because they are required to study independently. In this study, researchers aimed to analyze the effect of generation Z college student learning styles on student engagement in the district/city Bandung. The research was conducted by using the VAK (Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic) learning style model during the Covid-19 pandemic. Researchers identified the influence of student learning styles using a quantitative approach and collected data through an online survey (questionnaire) method by using google forms to students who followed online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The questions given to students studying in the city/regency of Bandung were previously tested on 30 respondents to find out that the questions to be asked were valid and reliable. The number of samples in this study amounted to 500 students with data analysis through three stages, namely the descriptive analysis stage, the analysis prerequisite test and simple linear regression. After the data was collected, an analysis was carried out to determine the effect of the two variables in this study. The results of data processing using SPSS and have been analyzed, the research shows that most of the generation Z students who studied in the Bandung district/city during the pandemic the majority had auditory learning styles and students also had high learning engagement during the Covid-19 pandemic. There is an influence of learning styles on student engagement of generation Z students, but from the results of the study the effect of learning styles on student engagement is small because there are other factors or independent variables besides learning styles that can affect student engagement in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic.
