Description
Summary:Najis al-mughallazah (extreme najis) have to be removed and washed seven times with free flowing water and one of which is clay water. Kaolin is clay that contains kaolinite which is regarded as one of the most common clay mineral in the earth's crust. Kaolin has been shown to be able to remove extreme najis. The purpose of this study was to develop the use of kaolin as najis cleanser in the form of a liquid soap formula. To increase the function of the soap, olive oil-VCO nanoemulsion was added as a moisturizer. Based on the characterization results, olive oil-VCO nanoemulsion was obtained with particle size of 86.2 nm, polydispersity index of 0.378, pH of 5.393 and a spherical morphology. It was concluded that the liquid soap produced had met the requirements for pH, viscosity and rheology, as well as foamibility. From the results of the acute dermal irritation test in vivo, it was known that kaolin liquid soap did not cause irritation to rabbits. The addition of olive oil-VCO nanoemulsion to kaolin liquid soap also did not cause irritation to rabbits. In the antibacterial activity test, it was found that kaolin liquid soap containing olive oil-VCO nanoemulsion had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Eschericia coli ATCC 8939, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 9027. The results of this study can be the basis for the development of kaolin liquid soap as najis cleanser.
