Description
Summary:Makassar Port is a strategic port with a fairly high flow of goods and ship visits. Makassar Port, which is located in South Sulawesi, has a role as a port city in world trade and the gateway to the Eastern Region of Indonesia which is a liaison to other ports. Makassar New Port Terminal is part of the Makassar Port, which is taking parts in the development project in line with the increasing flow of goods movement at the port. Reclamation at the seaside area with total 130.91 hectares or 130,910 m2 is part of the Makassar New Port terminal development plan. The reclamation design in this study is based on geotechnical conditions at the New Port Makssar Terminal which consists of elevating of embankment and breakwater or dyke, designing the embankment in stages, designing of dyke, analyzing the soil stability, and estimating the consolidation rate with and without soil improvement. Modeling and analysis were using PLAXIS 2D software and apply the vertical drainage as the soil improvement. Based on the calculation and analysis, the embankment and dyke elevation is +3.6 mLWS with 7 stages of embankment and 4 stages of preloading. The safety factor value is 2.55 means the the design fulfill the safey criteria. The total consolidation is 2,136 meters which takes 121.68 years. Since the total consolidation for 50 years is 1.4 meters, the design is good and safe, the reclamation area will not sink even at the highest tide. Due to a large amount of consolidation, this design needs soil improvement which apply vertical drainage. The installation consist of two pattern but the triangular spacing for PVD shows the consolidation rate is faster than the square spacing. Triangular spacing with 1 meter space only takes 60 days for 90% consolidation degree. On the other side, the triangular spacing needs mor quantity than the square spacing in the same area..
