Both internal and external analysis are conducted to determine the company's strengths and weaknesses in comparison to competitors in similar industries. The author uses the VRIO framework for internal analysis, whereas the PESTEL framework is employed for external analysis. Additionally, the author undertakes a root cause analysis to ascertain one of the sources of the company's inefficiency. At the moment, one of the inefficiencies at PT. KLM is due to the performance of the articulated dump truck (ADT) type A, which failed to reach the planned target. This contributes to the inability of mining operations to completely remove top soil and unachieved reclamation target. There are several alternative solutions that PT. KLM can choose to improve ADT performance. The author provides four alternatives for ADT at PT. KLM, starting from Certified Rebuild Machine (CRM) then Full Maintenance Service (FMS), CRM then Full Maintenance Contract (FMC), purchase ADT type A then FMC, or purchase ADT type B then FMC. Feasibility studies are conducted to find the best alternative. Sensitivity analysis is used to examine the input variable's influence on changes in NPV (Net Present Value). In addition, Monte Carlo simulations are also conducted to generate a variety of possible outcomes and probabilities that may be used to evaluate the likelihood of various situations. Based on the analysis, the author recommends scenario 2 as the best scenario with the largest NPV. In addition, after the monte carlo simulation, the results of the mean NPV + minimum NPV and mean NPV + maximum NPV in scenario 2 produce the largest values compared to other scenarios. However, scenario 2 has the second highest coefficient of variation of all the scenarios. So, scenario 2 is riskier than the other two. As a result, risk mitigation is necessary to minimize potential losses. text |
