Summary: | The Warung Makan Barokah (Food Stall) is located in Pelesiran as a micro-business that
provides food and beverages, facing significant challenges when COVID-19 starts to emerge.
The common issues are difficulties in adopting a new regulation from the government,
suffering from sales loss, and the human resources adaptation obstacles. This study aims to
find a development strategy by first defining the condition of Warung using a tool known as
business model canvas. Second, Formulate the strategy based on the state found. Third,
describe a current condition in comparison with pandemic situation business requirements.
Fourth, formulate the implementation plan in order to establish the strategy that has been
planned.
Data collection was first performed as a literature review on several subjects: business model
canvas, covid pandemic situation, food processing industry, previous research on business
model canvas, Warung Makan condition in Indonesia, the geography of Pelesiran area, and
supporting tools for external and internal business analysis. The literature review served as
the basis for the research questions and goals. Secondly, interviews were conducted with
business owners, customers, and experts to gather the data as qualitative research. The
question was based on business model canvas, customer-centered innovation framework
(Consisting of Persona canvas, empathy map, value proposition canvas, and porter five
forces), and SWOT analysis. The stage of business growth was also discovered in order to
support the data.
Currently, Indonesia is in a period of a ‘low touch economy,’ which means the strategy for
business should point towards digitalization of business. The business model canvas analysis,
Porter’s five forces, consumer analysis, SWOT, and Growing Pains are used to discover
business problems. From the list of problems, a specific solution will work best for Warung
Makan Barokah's current condition based on the current stage of growth. The best strategy
for Warung Makan Barokah is that Warung should focus on developing products that satisfy
target market needs. The specified solution Warung needs to implement is developing a new
product, adapting to technology for marketing and operational, business canvas reformation,
and the solution based on SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats) analysis.
There is five plan which Warung Makan Barokah can implement. (1) product development
as an innovation. Develop Sundanese food add with customer process innovation, establish a partnership program(2) Human training technology adaptation, A human resource training
planed to divided into two sections, first is for employee and second is for the owner (3)
social media adaptation. Social media offers easy-to-build communication to the market. (4)
branding program, Brand warung as a gathering place with intention, the first come to mind
when mentioned gathering, costumer hopefully can pick Warung Makan Barokah an option
among other selection. and (5) adopting ITB UMKM program. ITB UMKM Program offered
a supply chain integration that can benefit Warung’s owner in the critical activities requiring
an ingredient for operation. This research also provides a timetable for further project
