Summary: | This final project report aims to review the author's journey in finding self- identity through painting. Starting from the author's concern about self-existence in the social sphere because it took too long to interact by playing a role using the idol persona on social media and lack of confidence in social interaction in real life. So that raises rhetorical questions about identity and self-existence. How the author sees herself and how the author sees herself while playing the role of an idol persona.
In addition, how the author can represent herself and her personas while playing the role. The problems that arise are then collected by the author along with data that can support the concept that the author will adopt in her work. The author conducts visual and technical exploration before executing the work and ends with an evaluation when the work is almost finished. The method used by the author in her work is painting. The medium used is a conventional medium, namely oil paint on canvas. In the visualization of the author's work, it presents a visual of the author's self-portrait along with other self-portraits of the author while playing the role of the idol persona and also the masks of the author's persona. The portrait of the idol personas used by the author consists of three characters, the first being the persona of the female idol and the remaining two being the persona of the male idol. The author uses an expressionist approach and does not do mimesis on the author's self-portrait visualization on canvas. The author also uses a symbolism approach in her work. There is improvisation of techniques that is clearly visible from one canvas to another, which is intentional as a form of the author's development and journey in recognizing herself through her final project painting.
The author goes through a difficult phase in his journey of self-discovery, which can be seen from the paintings that have been executed. When the author begins to know the author, there are times when the author questions who the author is. However, in the end the author found many experiences and lessons in the process of working. The existence of awareness about the search for self-identity experienced by today's generation is more inclined towards where each individual wants to exist or be noticed by his social environment. |
