PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (PT KPC) is a coal mining company that is placed in Sangatta project which is currently being faced is a decrease in profit for each tonnage of coal unit. In 2020, changes in coal prices on the world market are largely the result of a pandemic situation in all parts of the world. This price change has urged PT Kaltim Prima Coal to take various initiatives to maintain its margin so that it remains positive so that it can survive amid the conditions of falling prices. Coal Mining Department under Mining Operation Division that has responsibility for MOD Coal movement, already identified some of part that potentially could be improve related their operational activity. Compared to the competitors PT. Thiess Contractor Indonesia and PT PAMA, Coal Mining Department has some unique parameter that it make the unit cost much higher than the competitors. Currently ytd 2020 actual unit cost for whole Coal Mining Department is 2.17 ($/ton). The 3 biggest contributor is come from Coal Mined, Coal reclaim and also Coal Hauling activity. For coal support and coal road maintenance overall was the same as contractor’s rate. Actual there are 3 coal flow activity for the current practice, coal mined, coal reclaimed and also coal re-handle. Including on that is coal crushed that coal flow practically flow coal material from stockpile (ROM Pit & ROM) and also from Pit to crusher. These final project will looking for the root cause of the higher rate of Coal Mining Department by using ABC (activity Based Costing) modeling and using issue tree analysis. The project methodology is by do some literature study and analysis at actual vs budget report Coal Mining 2020, and also make some modification at the main activity loading , hauling and also reclaim for proposed the solution to decrease the overall unit cost of the main activity.
