Data used in this study were collected through a survey design using questionnaires, observation, and literature review. The data were analyzed using Rapid Appraisal of Fisheries (RAPFISH) to determine the sustainability status. Furthermore, the result was used to formulate the development strategies using SWOT analysis. Lastly, the prioritized strategy is chosen through QSPM analysis. The study showed that the sustainability status of common carp hatchery businesses in Ciparay from ecological and economic aspects was classified as less sustainable with an index value of 48.84 and 48.47, respectively, while the social and technological aspects were considered adequately sustainable with an index value of 61.76 and 62.24 respectively. Eight alternative development strategies formulated to improve the sustainability status: creating a farmer group association to expand information channel, establish a partnership to sell the product, build a water filtering system, increase the activity of farmer group and do a collective certification and training program, building a cooperative breeding system to lower the broodstock price, increasing market by utilizing good relationship with the community, increasing the sale value by giving additional feed to the fishes, and creating a wastewater treatment plant. The prioritized strategy to level up the sustainability status was creating a farmer group association, increasing the farmer group activity, and expanding cultivation and market information exchange. text |
