Summary: | PT KASUARI is a transportation company specializes in air transport focusing on the low to medium segment of the market. They operate several types of aircraft to cater to market demand and able to operate in different market types. The problem however is that some of the employees are aging and due to the COVID-19 pandemic where transportation industry is one of the most severely impacted, the threat of employee departure due to various reason become higher. This brings forth the needs of a knowledge management practice to avoid knowledge loss on the company, thus allowing the company to sustain their competitive advantage.
This research is conducted to answer three research questions. The first one is what is the current KM maturity level of PT KASUARI, the second question is what the challenges and opportunity are to improve KM maturity at PT KASUARI, and the last question is what PT KASUARI can do to improve current KM maturity level.
To analyze and research this both qualitative and quantitative research methodology is used in this research to gain information, and identify options for improvement of actions. The primary data is gathered using survey distributed to employees of PT KASUARI. The method to assess and analyze the survey is using Asian Productivity Organization framework and survey guidelines which consider seven aspects: Leadership, Process, People, Technology, Knowledge Process, Learning & Innovation, and KM outcome. Qualitative method is mainly used to discuss and validate the findings of the survey with informant from PT KASUARI. Current condition and opportunity for improvement is also discussed with the informant.
Based on the survey, PT KASUARI KM maturity is currently at expansion level. To improve KM maturity level the company should improve on several aspect of the assessment category based on APO criteria: Leadership, People, Knowledge Process, and Learning & Innovation. The main drivers to improve KM maturity level is management support and to establish organizational infrastructure necessary to led KM program or initiatives at PT KASUARI. Other aspect to be considered to improve KM maturity level is how to encourage employees to share their knowledge, since the one of the processes to knowledge creation is to share the knowledge. This research will provide implementation that could be undertaken by PT KASUARI to improve KM maturity level. |
