Description
Summary:Indonesia has a high level of urbanization that is increasing year after year, and one of the problems that might occur as a result of this high level of urbanization is a food crisis. Urban farming has the potential to solve this problem by bringing food closer to city inhabitants. It would be great if the urban people, particularly the younger generation, were aware of and participating in this activity. One of the age periods that has a considerable influence on individual maturation is the midteens (ages 15-18 years). The media utilized in this concept is a simulation game because players can adapt and become accustomed to the situations that arise in the simulation game, allowing the experience to be understood and implemented in real life. This is deemed appropriate for building urban farming activities simulation games for adolescents aged 15 to 18 years. This game was created with the playcentric game design method, which is used to create games that are anticipated to be in agreement with player preferences. The concept design was carried out by conducting a literature review, observation, and distribution of questionnaires to teens aged 15-18 years, after which the concept was elaborated in the form of a simple prototype design and user testing on the target population was conducted out. This simulation game uses the basic steps in urban farming activities based on information gathered through observations of urban farming activities, with a familiar background region to players, namely the home environment. The results of user testing reveal that the design of this urban farming activity simulation game can be an attractive medium for teens aged 15-18 years to mimic simple and easy-to-understand urban farming activities.
