Summary: | MSMEs are considered to be able to play a role as an economic driver and
contribute greatly to the economy. However, the Covid-19 pandemic
caused many losses for MSMEs, including disruption to the production,
distribution, and consumption processes. One of the MSMEs affected by
the Covid-19 pandemic is the embroidery MSME, which is one of the
largest contributors to GRDP in the City of Tasikmalaya with a focus on
developing the handicraft processing industry at the Priangan TimurPangandaran Planning Area (WP). Therefore, it is necessary to find out
how the adaptive capacity of handicraft MSMEs in dealing with the impact
of the Covid-19 pandemic. This research aims to identify the adaptive
capacity of handicraft SMEs in dealing with the impact of the Covid-19
pandemic through entrepreneurial capacity, social capacity, and
institutional capacity of formal institutions. The data used in this study
were collected by purposive sampling method followed by snowball
sampling to the embroidery entrepreneurs in Kawalu District, Tasikmalaya
City. Data analysis was carried out with a qualitative analysis approach.
The results show that the adaptive capacity of embroidery SMEs in Kawalu
is only entrepreneurial capacity, while social capacity tends to be lacking.
Embroidery SMEs in Kawalu are also not supported by the institutional
capacity of formal institutions. This shows that business operations are
carried out individually, resulting in a diversity of adaptive capacities and
no collective action to find solutions in dealing with the impact of the
Covid-19 pandemic perceived by all embroidery SMEs in Kawalu |
