PT Bukit Asam Tbk (referred to as PTBA) is Indonesia's oldest and the only State-Owned Company in the coal mining sector with the vision is to be A world-class energy company that cares about the environment.
Considering the global coal market outlook, PTBA cannot only depend on its current core business by selling coal as a coal. PTBA is on the right track by developing Coal to DME Project in line with the Government's strategy to reduce LPG imports to utilize the abundant low-rank coal, which may not be feasible to sell. The Coal to DME Project is one of PTBA's strategic initiatives, one of the pillars of the Company's business transformation focuses on developing chemicals and coal derivative products.
This project involves three parties, PTBA as coal supplier, PT Pertamina (Persero) (referred to as PTM) as toller and off-taker, and Air Products and Chemicals Inc (referred to as APCI) as a Processing Company which processes coal into DME and distributes it to Pertamina. The project dynamics. The project is currently in the process of finalizing Agreement. PTBA does not have the best choices yet whether it wants to accept all to complete the Agreement or not, or is there another scheme that PTBA can propose so that the parties will accept.
The purpose of the Final Project is to find out the root cause of the problem using fishbone diagram analysis, then offer recommendations and solutions to PTBA management for decision making using a problem analysis approach SMART that can be used to resolve the problem so that PTBA has the best decision option to overcome the project.
The implementation plan of this Final Project is to propose a new business scheme to the parties to build a Coal to DME factory jointly, and all risks, both during the construction and operational periods, are borne by the parties according to the share ownership portion have an equal bargaining position. |
