RESILIENCE LANDED HOUSING DESIGN IN COVID-19 EPIDEMIC WITH SPACE SYNTAX APPROACH CASE STUDY IN PEKANBARU

Coronavirus syndrome 2 (SARS - CoV - 2) which is the cause of COVID-19 can be transmitted through respiratory droplets or physical contact. It's been almost 2 years of COVID-19 and the public needs to consider social roles, complexity and review layout adaptations. The trend of Work from Home (...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/65466 Coronavirus syndrome 2 (SARS - CoV - 2) which is the cause of COVID-19 can be transmitted through respiratory droplets or physical contact. It's been almost 2 years of COVID-19 and the public needs to consider social roles, complexity and review layout adaptations. The trend of Work from Home (WFH) is becoming a new lifestyle for the community, according to a survey concluding that many workers prefer to work from home after the pandemic ends. Several computational simulation methods that assess existing floor plans with the help of generative design principles have been carried out, but there is no implementation of space syntax in the architectural design thesis. So to fill the void of research, the thesis aims to imagine how COVID-19 spreads on the scale of a building, a space, a place to do activities. If more people understood the principles underlying how space configurations functioned to bring people together or separate them. The design questions are what are the criteria for designing a space that is resilient to epidemics, how is the concept of designing a space that is flexible, hygienic, natural against epidemics. To produce resilient landed housing with flexible, hygienic, and natural concepts after COVID-19. Houses need to have flexibility of access, natural entertainment with a longer intensity of time at home, spatial planning to be a control to help minimize the possibility of accidental encounters, and propose the scale of transmission to describe the evaluation and propose the layout of the space.
