THE DEVELOPMENT OF DATA PRIVACY PROGRAM FOR PERFORMANCE, SUPERVISION, AND INCIDENT RESPONSE PLANNING AREA FOCUS IN BANDUNG INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
By: Khairunnisa Rifdah NIM 18218008
The absence of procedures for protecting personal data in universities in Indonesia means that there is no guarantee of privacy rights for academic civitas. Every academic civitas has right to their personal data which is processed and used by other parties. Various risks related to personal data breaches are very likely to occur if the data processing carried out is not privacy-friendly. One of the steps that can be taken is to develop a data protection program that aims to protect the privacy rights of every academic civitas and ensure that every processing complies with applicable regulations and has followed privacy-friendly best practices.
In this study, a Data Privacy Program for the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) is proposed and adapted to the current maturity level of data processing and how ITB perceive data privacy. The maturity level of data processing at ITB is currently at 1.69 out of 5.00. This program aims for initiative steps to implement personal data protection at ITB which is accompanied by cost and effort projections. This program is also equipped with main supporting documents that can be adopted as part of data protection for ITB.
The proposed Data Privacy Program is projected to increase the maturity level to 3.33 out of 5.00 by implementing 36 initiatives over 5 years. After this program proposal is implemented, it is projected that all data processing at ITB will be privacy-friendly and not violate any regulations. Although in Indonesia itself there are no strict regulations regarding personal data, it is hoped that ITB has guaranteed the security of the personal data of its academics with best practices. The
proposal for this Data Privacy Program has been submitted to BAI ITB and CIO ITB as the main stakeholders who will be directly involved in the implementation of this program.
