Description
Summary:East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT), despite having high potential of solar energy, has the lowest electrification rate in the country. Concentrated solar power (CSP) plant is one of the best technology to make use of NTT’s solar potential. In this research a CSP plant with Brayton cycle and ORC is modelled after the solar potential in Kupang, NTT. Three working fluid for ORC is analysed based on thermodynamic efficiency and safety. The economics of the plant is analysed and the Levelized Cost of Electricity of a CSP plant with and without a thermal energy storage (TES) is compared. CSP plant with Brayton cycle and ORC has a power output of 2,014 – 11,008 kW throughout the day. All three working fluids choice met safety criteria. R141b has the highest thermodynamic efficiency so it was chosen as ORC working fluid in the final design. CSP plant with TES requires Rp421,191,784,800.00 of initial investment. This project has Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp129,969,297,579.00 at 11.11% Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and payback period of 11.23 years. CSP plant with TES has an LCOE of Rp979.00 while the one without has an LCOE of Rp734.00.
