FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE ACCEPTANCE OF TELEMEDICINE SERVICES IN RURAL COMMUNITY THROUGH AN EXTENDED TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE MODEL (TAM)

In Indonesia, the purpose of telemedicine itself initially was to develop health care services in remote areas, which is written in Article 15 of the Minister of Health (Permenkes) Number 90, 2015. As a technology that allows patients to get health services remotely, telemedicine has the potential to be a solution in overcoming health service problems during a pandemic, especially in improving health care services in remote areas. However, the benefits of telemedicine can only be felt when people begin to accept and use it proactively. Therefore, it is important to know the factors that influence the acceptance of telemedicine. The main objective of this study is to investigate the factors influencing the acceptance of telemedicine services in rural communities. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory by Davis (1989) was used as a theoretical framework for this research, with the extension of several other variables. In this study, the data is collected through a quantitative approach using a questionnaire-based survey. The preferred participants are rural communities in Leuwigoong, with the age range of 17 years and over, daily internet users, considered as health conscious, and people who are considered sufficient to keep up with technological developments. The data were analyzed using the partial least square (PLS)-SEM method. The results found that in this study perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use, have a significant effect on attitude. Moreover, social influence and attitude have a significant effect on behavioral intention to use telemedicine services. While, perceived risk, trust, technological anxiety, resistance to use, and facilitating conditions do not have a significant effect on behavioral intention to use telemedicine services in rural communities. The findings of this study can be used as material for consideration in the development and design of telemedicine services in rural communities. text
