Summary: | The sharing economy is a business model that is growing due to advances in
digital technology that allows the maximization of underutilized assets by
sharing commodities. In the world of tourism, a world-renowned company using
the sharing economy business model is AirBnb. Bali is a major tourist
destination that is being targeted by various property owners to invest through
AirBnb, including Denpasar City, which plays a role in the development of Bali
tourism and has a strategically advantageous location. However, the COVID-
19 pandemic has resulted in a decline in the tourism business, so the government
has imposed incentives to accelerate tourism recovery, one of which is the CHSE
(Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environment) protocol that applies to tourism
actors in adapting new habits. It is feared that most small businesses including
AirBnb will not be able to meet the requirements of the scheme. This will hamper
AirBnb's business operations if no action is taken to ensure that AirBnb is able
to comply with the CHSE protocol from the government. Therefore, this study
was conducted to identify AirBnb's readiness to meet CHSE in the new normal
era with a case study of Denpasar City. This study uses questionnaire data from
domestic tourists who have visited Denpasar City and have a knowledge about
AirBnb, interviews with AirBnb hosts and Denpasar City Tourism Officials,
AirBnb observations, and secondary data. The analysis used is descriptive
qualitative and IPA analysis to identify CHSE amenities that need to be
prioritized for provision, quantitative descriptive analysis to identify the
characteristics and availability of CHSE amenities at AirBnb, and spatial
hotspot analysis to observe the distribution pattern of AirBnb clusters based on
the availability of CHSE priority amenities. The results of this study indicate that
there are three priority amenities namely fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and
smoke detectors with the highest concentrations of AirBnb are located in South
Denpasar and West Denpasar. However, AirBnb's readiness to comply with the
CHSE protocol is not yet qualified and there are still gaps in its implementation
management and supervision. |
