Indonesia Final Project Spatial Structure, Morphological Polycentricity, Functional Policentricity, New Capital City Relocation INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/66977 One of the problems faced by Indonesia in development is economic inequality and welfare between regions. Nationally, this problem was overcome, among others, through the relocation of the State Capital. Spatial structure as part of spatial planning has contributed to the efforts to equalize welfare among regions. In several studies, it is stated that the even distribution of activity centers, also known as the polycentric spatial structure, has a positive correlation with the distribution of regional economic performance. So it is necessary to know how the condition of the existing spatial structure in East Kalimantan Province is the basis for planning future spatial planning policies. This study aims to identify the spatial structure of the existing area in East Kalimantan Province based on morphological and functional aspects. The province of East Kalimantan was chosen as the study location because it is one of the regions that is a national priority program 2 in the 2020 -2024 RPJMN in regional development to reduce inequality and ensure equity, the plan to relocate the New Capital City (IKN) as a solution to overcome the inequality in the western part of Indonesia and East, as well as the plan to develop the National Capital with Tricity Collaboration, namely Balikpapan, Samarinda, and IKN which are expected to be able to accelerate economic growth and equity in the three cities. The data collection method in this study used secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency, the Ministry of Transportation, the Geospatial Information Agency, and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. This study uses descriptive statistical analysis and spatial analysis methods. The approach used to identify the spatial structure is an approach to measuring polycentricity, namely through morphological and functional aspects. The morphological aspect itself in this study is represented through the variables of population density, built -up land, and the distribution of facilities. Meanwhile, the functional aspect is re presented by the variable of population and goods movement. In addition, it is also reviewed the role and specialization of each district/city in regional economic activities. The results of this research can be input to policymakers regarding the plan to relocate the State Capital, especially in the aspect of spatial planning. text
