Description
Summary:Currently the decrese of Indonesian oil lifting and the trend of higher oil demand leads to gradual increase on crude oil imports, so it is bad news for national budget. Another problem is that due to application of avtur for aviation has increased the effect of global warming. Fortunately, this country has a huge palm-tree plantaion become the largest CPO export in the world. Therefore, one of practical solution is by producing bioavtur from palm kernel stocks then bleded with avtur Jet A1, the mixture of bioavtur will be possible for aviation fuel. Based on the idea, PT Pertamina and Tim Katalis ITB finally produces bioavtur J2.4 (fuel mixture of 2.4% biofuel and 97.6% avtur Jet A-1) by co-processing method and will be test on flight test using CN235-220 FTB aircraft own by PT. Dirgantara Indonesia. The research divided into 2 phases, where first phase the aircraft use avtur Jet A-1 on both right and left engine, and second phase use bioavtur J2.4 on the right engine only. The test consists of Ground Test, where aircraft operate only on the ground, and Flight Test, where the aircraft test in the altitude of 10,000 ft and 16,000 ft. The performance parameters measured are torque (TQ), Interstage Turbine Temperature (ITT), propeler’s speed (NP), gas generator rotating speed (NG), fuel flow (FF), and specific fuel comsumption (SFC). The result of the research indicates there is no significant differences between avtur Jet A-1 and bioavtur J2.4 based on the fuel properties, the test data and pilot’s comment. The average result show less than 1% differences. Based on the result, bioavtur J2.4 is expected to replace avtur Jet A-1 in the future for the green energy.
