PT GEMALA KEMPA DAYA (GKD) is a one of company operating at manufacture industry, which is automotive industry, who become part of ASTRA Otopart. PT GKD produces vehicle spare parts (four wheel drive or more), specially below-part of cars. The problem occurs is that the production processs still have several part which is not optimal. This circumstances make the result in producing the product not achieving the target and the customer satisfaction. Reinforcement RR Axle housing D16 is a component which has the function to make the spin the wheel. This product still has the defect about 6.26 percent, which is calculated from January 2007 to Mei 2007. <br />

The writer using six sigma method in order to minimize their defect in the production process. Six sigma is used in this research in order to make a clear contribution to the company. This final report will explain about 5 stages in six sigma tools, which are DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control). The define stage will explain about the process in SIPOC mapping, CTQ and making the control chart. The measure stage explain about its DPMO and sigma level. The Analyze will explain by using the fishbone diagram and FMEA analysis. Then in the improve and contol stage, the writer will give recommendation about how to increase the product quality and minimize its defect, and about how to controlling the process during the implementation happen. <br />
