Summary: | Globally, one-third of all food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted between producers and the fork. At the same time, about 800 million people are malnourished, but no more than a billion tonnes of food are on the table. These inefficiencies in the global food system have serious nutritional, health, and environmental implications. Ringkai produce dried food made from imperfect farm produce using an electrical dehydrator that can keep the inside nutrients while extending the life of fruit to 9 months.
After conducting market testing, internal team of Ringkai found that the products produced have not met customer expectations. The fundamental challenge is to develop a product that meets customer expectations and needs while following the internal product analysis that has been carried out to reach the next stage of the innovation process. This research aims to get the root of the problem and the solution.
The results showed that the root cause came from the company's internal team, who did not do in-depth research regarding tool specifications, processing time, and criteria for good fruit to be processed. Meanwhile, from the consumer side, the factor that must be improved is divided into taste, appearance, texture, packaging, overall, and new insights of the snack product. This study also recommends strategies and implementation plans that the company must carry out to meet consumer preferences. |
