Glybenclamide results in related substances under its degradation. Therefore for quality evaluation of glybenclamide bulk it needs such impurity references standard. To make a related substance, glybenclamide was refluxed in methanol for 24 hours. The result of reflux was isolated and purificated by coloumn chromatography. The isolate was characterizated by thin-layer chromatography, ultraviolet light and infrared <br />

spectrophotometry. The isolate showed a different TLC profile and infrared spectrum to that of glybenclamide. The isolate was predicted to be a methyl N-4-[2-(5-chloro-2- methoxybenzamido)ethyl] benzenesulphonylcarbamat. |
