Summary: | Fungal infectious diseases are one of the infections with a high prevalence rate. However, currently
the availability of antifungal drugs is limited, and their effectiveness is reduced due to resistance
problems. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly search for new antifungal drugs from natural
sources. This study aimed to test the antifungal activity of secondary metabolites of the marine
fungus Aspergillus flavus isolated from the mangrove roots in Sei Sembilang Village, North Sumatra,
Indonesia. The research method is by fermenting the marine fungus Aspergillus flavus for 30 days
to obtain the secondary metabolite of Aspergillus flavus. The fermented media was extracted using
the liquid-liquid extraction method with ethyl acetate solvent, while the fermented mycelium was
extracted using the maceration method with ethyl acetate solvent. The mycelium and media
extracts obtained were tested for antifungal activity against Candida albicans using the disc
diffusion method and microdilution method. The media extract has antifungal activity with a MIC

fractionated using vacuum liquid chromatography method and tested the antifungal activity of the
fraction against Candida albicans. Fraction B has the best antifungal activity with a MIC value of 125
