Description
Summary:The Sumatra region is one of the parts in Indonesia with a high level of earthquake events. This is inseparable from the many activities of seismic in the region. This research is intended to analyze the variation of velocity on tectonic plates as a result of earthquakes in the area around the coast of western Sumatra. The method used is to calculate and estimate the trend of the speed vektor obtained from GPS (Global Positioning System) observations continuously through the CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Station) station and SuGAr (Sumatran GPS Array). The results of research showed that there was a correlation between the occurrence of earthquakes and the varying tectonic plate velocity compared to tectonic plate velocity when there is earthquakes that tends to stagnate.
