Covid-19 has influenced many companies around the globe to evaluate and assess its strategy. None of
entity was ready when the pandemic happens, and global economy is slowing down. Any existing
business strategy having its failure on coping with the situation, wether it is major or minor. Specific
measurements and conditions of each company would determine on how much an entity suffered
during the hard times of pandemic when people movement activity and direct interaction strictly
prohibited.
Hardship is also faced by Arupa Group since the coal price drop on late 2019 and Covid-19 hits on
early 2020. The group had realised on how bulk its organization which may cause extra complexity on
business process and potential of conflict interest in the market between companies of the group, thus
revenue absorbance is not optimal. Another internal study shown with the size of the group
organization and capabilities, the group business portfolio and market scope are also underperformed
on its growth. Besides the complexity of business process and conflict interest between companies of
the group, compliance issue is found and mainly become the prime obstacle of Arupa Group to grow
or even just to survive better during the pandemic.
An initiative is floored and agreed to be executed in 2021 on several corporate action within Arupa
Group to improve its figure, performance, and compliance. The main mission is to make Arupa
Trading, a relatively new and small entity within group become big and powerful. While the other
companies include Arupa Holding itself will be set to focus only in Manufacture, Arupa Trading is
projected to be of the group frontier, the trading entity which functioned as the Group single window
to the market.
Since the plan for Arupa Trading and re-alignment of Arupa Group business strategy where big tasks
to do, an in-depth research and collaboration needs to be done. In the future, Arupa Trading activities
on business shall reflect the spirit of Arupa Group synergy. This research conducts qualitatively,
which fully rely on internal and literature data, to set a potential business strategy that can be used by
Arupa Group to increase company group’s revenue, organization efficiency, and compliance,
especially in response to Covid-19 pandemic learning.
