IDENTIFICATION OF CLOTHING WASTE AND ITS POTENTIAL TREATMENT IN CIMAHI CITY

Fast fashion is a global phenomenon that is happening because of the high demand for clothes and fast fashion provides that with cheaper prices. This causes the average use of clothes before it thrown is decreasing and the amount of clothing waste increases. This research focuses on identifying the clothing waste generation and the clothing waste management recommendation in Cimahi City. The method of collecting data is a questionnaire with stratified random sampling which the respondents divided into three groups based on its economic level. The calculation of clothing waste generation using the carnegie mellon method. In 2022, it estimated that the t-shirts, shirts, underwear, socks, and veils waste respectively are 266,708.42 kg; 120,343.49 kg; 52,800.34 kg; 13,595.84 kg; 2,171.40 kg. The recommendation of clothing waste management systems are collection, storage, transportation, and treatment which are selected with simple additive weighting method. The chosen collection, storage, transportation, and treatment systems are dropbox; fiberglass container; CDE truck; mechanical recycling. Besides that, there are additional recommendations because most respondents didn’t do clothing waste management causes by lack of information about it. The recommendation is to educate people to increase awareness about the importance of clothing waste management
