Description
Summary:Minangkabau is one of the ethnic groups whose majority of the people live in West Sumatra. Minangkabau has a rich and diverse culture. One of the cultures that is often found in the Minangkabau community is Kato nan Ampek, which is the way or ethics of the Minangkabau people in communicating and socializing. Apart from Kato nan Ampek, Randai is also one of the cultures in Minangkabau. Randai is one of Minangkabau's special arts whose performance is in the form of a communal theatrical performance that combines silat movements, stories, and music in one performance. Along with the times, much of Minangkabau's natural culture has begun to be forgotten. The implementation of a different curriculum that no longer teaches Minangkabau Natural Culture subjects causes children to no longer understand Kato nan Ampek. There are also fewer randai art activists because many art galleries have closed and are not teaching randai art due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to design a form of educational game to attract interest and help children understand Minangkabau natural culture as a strategy to maintain cultural values among the younger generation of West Sumatra, especially children. The method used to collect data is a qualitative method, namely in the form of rapid ethnography, interviews and literature. This research will adapt randai art using the principles of the ATUMICS method so that a discussion of game design and local content in the form of Kato nan Ampek is obtained. The results of the analysis are then used as a reference for designing randai-themed educational games and can increase Minangkabau people's interest in preserving randai art.
