Summary: | Sandwich structure is a structure which a light in weight but a high in stiffness. These are caused by its construction which is arrange by two thin layers which have high stiffness on both face and they are bonding each other by a relative thick layer (called as core) which have lower in stiffness and light in weight. One of the failure modes is buckling, that is Euler buckling or Wrinkle buckling. The ability of a sandwich structure to restrain the failure mode can be maximized by a certain ratio of a thickness of core and a thickness of face which produces a lightest structure to restrain a certain load in the limited space. |
