One of the failure modes is buckling, that is Euler buckling or Wrinkle buckling. The ability of a sandwich structure to restrain the failure mode can be maximized by a certain ratio of a thickness of core and a thickness of face which produces a lightest structure to restrain a certain load in the limited space. text
