Summary: | Internet pornography has evolved into a type of "digital drug" that damages the
brain, triggers addictive behavior, and even deviant behavior or sexual violence,
as the internet has become faster, more equal, and private. Meanwhile, the most
vulnerable victims, the alpha generation of digital natives, are not adequately
protected or educated. Pornography barriers are easily breached, and
pornography-awareness education is limited to formal materials and remains
taboo to discuss. This mobile game design attempts to educate youngsters from 7
to 13 years old about the risks of pornography in a simple and enjoyable language.
The teaching takes the form of a simulation of pornographic exposure, with a
pornographic symbol entity named Monster Porano that is safe to watch but
nonetheless has pornographic connections from a child's perspective. This
simulation is intended to be as realistic as possible so that children will know what
to do and how to act when exposed to pornography in the real world. The DGBL
(Digital Game-Based Learning) approach and the DDE (Design, Dynamics, and
Experience) framework were used to create this game, which was supported by
qualitative research in the form of interviews and observations of respondents from
four schools (n=34), as well as interviews with child development psychologists
and visual communication experts. According to the findings of user testing on
respondents, children associate Monster Porano with pornography. Meanwhile,
educational mobile games have an impact on children's awareness of the dangers
of internet pornography, as well as knowing what to do when they encounter
pornographic material while using the internet.
