KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT MATURITY ASSESSMENT TO IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPROVEMENT AT PT PUPUK KALTIM

Indonesia is an agricultural country because the majority of Indonesia's population is commodity-minded farmers. So, the agricultural sector has a significant impact on the economy in Indonesia. The agricultural sector requires fertilizer as a supporting factor to increase productivity. PT Pupuk Kaltim is a company that produces urea and NPK fertilizers. There are challenges for PT Pupuk Kaltim. The challenges are the increase in production costs due to the rise in raw materials and the number of employees retiring and leaving is greater than the number of employees recruited. Evaluation needs to be done to determine the condition and maturity level of the company's knowledge management and the basis for formulating the most appropriate knowledge management strategy. The result of this assessment is information about the company's strengths and areas that need to be improved. This study uses research methods that combine quantitative and qualitative approaches. Primary data was collected by distributing questionnaires to 302 permanent employees. The questions in the questionnaire are based on the Asian Productivity Organization's knowledge management maturity level tool. Furthermore, qualitative methods are used to confirm whether the questionnaire results are appropriate to the conditions in the company. The results of the questionnaire show that the maturity level of knowledge management at PT Pupuk Kaltim is at the refinement level. There are four strategies for improvement opportunities that can be carried out. First, proposing the topic of knowledge management is described in detail in the company's long-term plan so that it becomes the basis for knowledge management activities at PT Pupuk Kaltim. Second, develop a document management system so employees can quickly and easily find the necessary information. Third, developing a mentoring program conducted by senior employees for junior employees so that there is a process of sharing knowledge and experience. Fourth, integrating available information technology systems into one system that is easy to use and has features that employees need.
