When a worker experiences excessive mental load, he will experience work-related stress, resulting performance decline, efficiency, and work productivity. This study aims to evaluate mental workload experienced by Pager Kaos workers using work sampling and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Task Load Index (NASA – TLX) method. The work sampling method was carried out to determine the percentage of productive time for all workers while the NASA – TLX method was carried out to determine the mental workload experienced by each worker with six indicators of mental workload that consists of mental demand, physical demand, temporal demand, performance, effort, and frustration level. The aim of using different method is to compare between subjective and objective method. The result of using NASA-TLX subjective method shows that mental workload felt by workers is between 64 and 89, meaning that the mental workload is high and very high (overload). While using work sampling method, the result is in the range of 117% to 124%, indicating that the workload felt by some workers is quite high. text
