Summary: | Eating is a human activity that must be continued in order to survive. This activity
evolves over time as human lifestyles change. This is a result of a shift in human
perception of the meaning of food. The complexity of food's value can be seen in
how humans perceive food as having a certain essence. There is also food that is
perceived as only fulfilling biological needs. Furthermore, there is a presentation
of traditional foods that are rich in cultural meaning, as well as modern foods that
are practical and reflect people's lifestyles. These foods are increasingly blending
into the hands of a modern multicultural society.
Starting with this, the author intends to represent how modern society's lifestyle
overlaps with traditional society's lifestyle. The author wishes to celebrate this
fusion through terracotta ceramic works. Furthermore, it is represented through
the traditional method of serving food, and by combining it with modern food
products. To show the duality of tradition and modernity in food, the author created
works using terracotta ceramics and found objects made with wicker.
Terracotta ceramics as a manifestation of human life's ever-changing journey. The
sincere and honest form of terracotta as a representation of something traditional,
but also primordial. Wicker is also present as a traditional language of traditional
dining culture as a container for terracotta. The representation of modern food
products demonstrates the contrasting side of modern food. |
