One of the most needed medicine is antifungal. Synthesis at laboratory usualy takes very long period and some high cost. Thus, people start considering medicine from organisms. Actinomycetes, Serratia marcescens, and rubber latex are known as antifungal agents. This experiment tried to study antifungal activity of the three agents using paper disc method. Candida Albicans grown in Luria Bertani agar. On top of it was put some paper discs which been dipped into liquid media of Actinomycetes, Serratia marcescens, and rubber latex mixed with toluene. After incubated overnight at 370C some clear zones were seen around the paper discs. This shown antifungal activities. As a potitive control ketoconazole and kalpanax were used. Meanwhile, toluene was used as negative control. Results are diameters of clear zone. 0.7 cm from Actinomycetes’ paper disc, 0.8 cm from Serratia marcescens’ paper disc, 0.9 cm from ketoconazole’s paper disc, 0.8 cm from rubber latex’s paper disc, 1.3 cm from kalpanax’s paper disc, 0.6 cm from intracellular Actinomycetes’ paper disc, 0.9 cm from intracellular Serratia marcescens’ paper disc, and 1.1 cm from fractionated Actinomycetes’ media in 20%ammonium sulphate. This paper disc method shown that the hightest antifungal activity was given by fractionated Actinomycetes’ media in 20%ammonium sulphate. While the lowest activity was given by Actinomycetes’ paper disc. For further information other research is needed. That would be specific research about chitinase produced by each organism and it’s molecular reaction. text
