Due to English being not the main language in Indonesia, it is often found that children tell stories without understanding the storyline they are telling. One of the efforts to get children to explore stories is to involve them in imagining stories. In order to help children understand stories, learning packages are designed that can involve children in assembling stories. This learning package design is targeted at elementary school children grades from 4 to 6, because at this age children are sufficiently introduced to English. This learning kit use picture cards and stickable boards as media. The learning kit provides three tools that serve to introduce, recall, and tell stories. The selection of card and board media is used so that learning media is not in the form of literacy media but leads to educational toys. The research process in this design begins with collecting literature reviews related to the design plan. Followed by interviews with experts such as English teachers and people who have done this activity as a child. Interviews were also conducted with children's bahasa rupa experts to study visual communication with children. The results of the literature review and interviews were then analyzed. The learning kit requires targets with mentors to encourage and guide children in telling stories in English. The design is expected to build a creative English Storytelling learning process. text |
