Description
Summary:Indonesia boasts a diverse array of traditional textile crafts found across various regions within its territory. One such region is Lampung, renowned for its wide range of textile crafts. Tapis Inuh, a traditional weaving craft from Lampung, is now rarely encountered due to its intricate and complex manufacturing process. Furthermore, with the passage of time, traditional woven fabrics like songket have become increasingly scarce and are no longer recognized even by the Lampung community itself. The production of woven fabrics in Lampung has significantly diminished, primarily due to a lack of human resources, despite the immense potential for the development of Lampung's woven fabrics. Lampung is also one of Indonesia's major coffee-producing regions, with robusta being the predominant variety. The substantial coffee production generates a significant amount of coffee bean waste. This waste possesses the potential to be repurposed into valuable resources, such as textile craft materials. In this study, coffee bean husks are employed as a natural dye for yarn, which is woven using the songket technique. The research methodology incorporates a qualitative design, employing visual adaptation strategies and form studies to modify the motifs. The outcomes of this research provide insights into the color processing of coffee bean husks for woven yarn and fabric, utilizing the songket technique inspired by Lampung's Tapis Inuh.
