DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF MODELING AND SPATIAL INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR URBAN SPRAWL ANALYSIS (CASE STUDY: BANDUNG CITY)
Bandung City is Indonesia's second most densely populated city, with a population density of 15,051 people per square kilometer, and it will continue to grow (BPS, 2022). The increasing population density will also impact urban development, particularly in residential areas (Marshall, 2007). Un...

The increasing population density will also impact urban development, particularly in residential areas (Marshall, 2007). Uncontrolled urban development can spread urbanization into undeveloped land near the city, a phenomenon known as Urban Sprawl. Such uncoordinated development can result in dependence on vehicles, water pollution, damage to sensitive areas due to changes in land cover, increased risk of disasters, and a decline in the quality of life for residents. The methodology employed in this study includes a literature review and the development of a WebGIS using the Waterfall method. This final project aims to build a geospatial information system in the form of a website for analyzing urban sprawl. The Urban Sprawl Geospatial Information System is intended to achieve the following objectives: building a spatial analysis model to determine the direction and relationship of urban sprawl with associated aspects such as population, nighttime lights, Land Surface Temperature (LST), and Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD). The spatial direction is determined using the mean spatial method, which calculates the average X and Y coordinates. Regression analysis is also used to establish the relationships between urban sprawl and its associated aspects. It is expected that the findings of this final project can be utilized in policy-making considerations for urban planning and development in the region. text |
