Summary: | Burnout is a condition in which individuals experience physical, mental and emotional exhaustion
that occurs due to stress from workloads that are too heavy, which, if not realized, can lead to
depression. Students often experience this burnout condition consciously or unconsciously. We
need a media to interactively convey information about burnout related to student conditions.
One of the media for conveying this information is in the form of a visual novel game, which is a
type of game in a storytelling format. Visual novel games have three elements, namely visual
characters, visual narrative, and visual style. The visual style used in the design of this study is a
psychological horror theme, with a classic game visual novel format that uses a text box at the
bottom, characters in the middle, and a background that usually indicates a place. The visual
narrative designed is to tell a main character, namely a student who is struggling to balance his
study and work, because of the many burdens he carries, the main character then gets burnout.
The aim of this design is to raise awareness about the importance of burnout phenomena
occurring among students. Using visual novel games as a medium has the potential to become
an effective medium of information about burnout and can be enjoyed by university students
because the interactions made by players towards games can bring out empathy for players about
the events experienced by the main character who is experiencing burnout |
