Summary: | Batik Bekasi was officially announced by the local government in 2014. However,
Batik Bekasi remains unfamiliar to the general populace. Recognizing the potential
of the young adult demographic, who represent the forthcoming inheritors of
previous generations, the author embarked upon the creation of a character
design artbook inspired by Batik Bekasi motifs, with a specific target audience in
mind: young adults ranging from 19 to 30 years old. The design begins with data
collection through literature study, observation and interviews, before
experimenting with Bekasi batik motifs based on Manga Matrix theory. The motifs
used were only those that have a lot of potential for character design experiments,
which were then collected into an artbook.
