However, the market segment dominated by small qualifying contractors is not very proportional to the number of existing companies. This situation causes business competition in the small qualification construction market to be tight, even unhealthy, and distorted. This study aims to identify the dominant factors affecting the competitiveness of small qualification contractors by comparative test methods, Reliability tests, Relative Importance Index (RII), statistical analysis (mean, standard deviation, variance) and correlation analysis; as well as develop strategies to improve competitiveness with SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). The object of this study was a small qualification contractor in Bandung City who was asked to assess the level of influence of competitiveness influence variables from various literature using the questionnaire method. From the results of data processing, 59% of the total 87 variables or 51 variables are considered influential. Based on the RII method, 10 most dominant factors that affect competitiveness are worker skills, financial management capabilities, the company's ability to adjust the market, the company's continuous learning, the ability to produce quality work according to the owner's expectations, investment and commitment to innovate, industrial image or stakeholders, worker productivity, quality control, and production/construction methods. Based on the SWOT analysis, 5 strategies to increase competitiveness were obtained, namely differentiation strategies, strategies for specific field specialist contractors, joint operation or subcontractor strategies, material supply framework contract strategies, and marketing strategies, which are detailed in 51 recommended action steps to increase contractor competitiveness. text
