Summary: | PT XYZ underground mine conducts its mining using the cut and fill method.
Ventilation is very important in underground mining operations, as it provides fresh
air for workers and equipment. The surface temperature of the mine site is close to
the standard limit of 26.2°C, where the upper limit of KepDirJen Minerba
No.185.K/37.04/DJB/2019 is 27°C. The activities studied are drilling, mucking,
and hauling. The heat sources taken into account are geothermal gradient,
autocompression, human metabolism, diesel engines, and electric engines.
Incoming air temperature is very influential where there will be an increase of at
least 1.68% (April and May) and a maximum of 8.56% (December and May), so it
needs to be anticipated. The equipment used in drilling activities are 47 kW jumbo
drill, 40 kW charging equipment, 20.5 kW auxiliary fan, and in mucking and
hauling activities 2 120 kW LHDs, 120 kW mine truck, and 20.5 kW auxiliary fan
are used. The problem of thermal conditions due to heat sources in drilling
activities increases the temperature by 11% at the working face and in mucking and
hauling activities by 15% at the working face. Heat control strategies with
engineering controls, namely using a ventilation system with the exhausting system
method with force overlap with a discharge of 20 m³/s, and a spot cooler cooling
system with a refrigeration power of 260 kW in mucking and hauling activities, and
180 kW in drilling activities, in order to meet the regulations of KepDirJen Minerba
No.185.K/37.04/DJB/2019, which is in the range of 18-27°C. |
