Description
Summary:Finding the optimal location and rated power of traction substations is a problem in the design of DC electric power supply systems for trains. The proposed method use of Evolutionary Multi-Objective Optimization (EMO) optimization to find the solution. By using two optimization steps, firstly finding the Pareto optimal solutions with NSGA-ii, and secondly selecting from the Pareto optimal solution by using higher-level information to obtain the best solution. The method is used to optimize 15 km track railway power supply systems with three or four traction substations. The load sharing between the traction substations is almost the same and with the minimum rated power. Therefore the single best solution is obtained, showing that the minimum solution requirements for the location and rated power of the traction substations are met.
