Summary: | In the 21st century, urban development trends have undergone significant
changes in response to urban communities' challenges and opportunities.
Bandung and Cimahi are two cities in Indonesia that have the concept of
developing a technopolis to support the development of a thriving digital era and
optimize the potential of a knowledge-based economy. In Bandung City,
technopolis development is focused on SWK Gedebage, while in Cimahi City,
development is carried out through Cimahi Technopark. In order to provide a
better understanding of the factors that affect the diffusion of innovation in
technopolis development, it is necessary to identify ecosystems for the diffusion of
innovation and the utilization of science and technology that can support regional
development in the two cities. This research uses qualitative methods through indepth interviews with key informants from various related parties. In addition,
Twitter social media data is also used to analyze sentiment values and describe
regional issues according to the public's view. The data analysis process uses
sentiment and content analysis approaches to understand people's perceptions of
regional issues and give meaning to the interview data. The 8 component smart
city concept approach is used to see an overview of the regional challenges the
two regions face. Rogers' innovation element approach is the concept used in
determining what factors influence the process of innovation diffusion in the cities
of Bandung and Cimahi. Meanwhile, the innovation ecosystem quadrant
approach is used to identify the innovation ecosystem concept promoted by the
city government in the two study areas. In addition, the ATOPP (Approach,
Technology, Organization, Process, Product) approach is used to analyze the
pattern of technopolis development in the two regions. The study shows that the
innovation element inclined to the diffusion process in the city of Bandung is the
element of the communication channel reflected in various platforms and
initiatives that support the exchange of ideas and collaboration. In comparison,
the element of time innovation is a significant concern in the process ofvivii
innovation diffusion in the city of Cimahi, especially in cases where the
innovation has been tested, developed, and replicated over a long period. In
addition, the regional challenges in developing technopolis in the two study areas
are in the spatial aspect, which includes spatial planning and supporting
infrastructure factors. The ecosystem of innovation and utilization of science and
technology in the city of Bandung shows a direction toward people's influence,
where the active participation of the community is considered essential to create
innovations relevant to society's needs. Meanwhile, in Cimahi, the stakeholder
relations approach gives meaning to the importance of collaboration between the
government and the private sector in technopolis development. Using the ATOPP
approach, the development of technopolis in Bandung uses the simple choice
model approach, which focuses on selecting development options that are easy to
implement and effective. On the other hand, technopolis development in Cimahi
uses a more regulatory approach, emphasizing the government's role as a
director and motor of development. |
